What Does Scleranthus Help With...

10ml and 25ml Scleranthus Remedy bottles

Scleranthus helps to restore the qualities of balance and decisiveness in the personality. Those in need of Scleranthus can be gripped by crippling indecision when faced with a choice between two things. In this situation they will usually weigh things up and ‘um & ah’ for a long time. Emotionally they can swing from one extreme to another very easily and may become quickly tearful. Mentally they can have a tendency to respond to outside stimulus rather like a grasshopper, making it hard for them to concentrate in the negative state. Scleranthus helps to restore one’s inner point of balance creating a greater connection with the Soul and one’s own inner direction.

Dr Bach’s Description of Scleranthus

Dr Edward Bach portrait

"Those who suffer much from being unable to decide between two things, first one seeming right then the other. They are usually quiet people, and bear their difficulty alone, as they are not inclined to discuss it with others."

From the Twelve Healers & Other Remedies - By Dr Edward Bach ( 1936 edition )

More Insights Into Scleranthus

"Scleranthus relates to the Soul's potential for balance and decisiveness. Those in the negative Scleranthus state vacillate between different (usually two) possibilities. If you've ever seen a to grasshopper respond to the slightest movement within its vicinity by making huge leaps here and there with apparent aimlessness, you can imagine what it feels like inside to be in the negative Scleranthus state. Any outside impulse is enough to spark a reaction, first in one direction, then in another." The Encyclopedia of Bach Flower Therapy by Mechthild Scheffer

"There was one other remedy which Bach found in the Cromer area that year: Scleranthus. The first description reads, in many respects, as an extension to Cerato with the suggestion that Scleranthus people 'are always seeking the advice of others'. But the real nature of the soul type is then apparent as he described first the intellectual quality and then the alternating mental outlook - the weather vane he called it - and we come down to the Scleranthus type balancing indecision and steadfastness." Bach Flower Remedies Form & Function by Julian Barnard

"Scleranthus is the Remedy for those people who suffer from indecision. They lack the ability to make up their minds, and thus they are swayed between two things or possibilities. The Scleranthus type also experiences extremes of joy or sadness, energy or apathy, pessimism or optimism, laughing or crying. To a certain extent, they are unreliable and uncertain, because they are unable to concentrate due to their constantly changing outlook. Their conversation is sometimes erratic, because they tend to jump from one subject to another. In spite of this, they are quiet people, and they do not ask the advice of one and all as the Cerato person does. They waste valuable time because they cannot make up their minds, and at times they may lose an opportunity because they cannot reach a decision."
