What Does Impatiens Help With...

10ml and 25ml Impatiens Remedy bottles

Impatiens helps those who are driven by an inner sense of urgency, a feeling that they need to get things done ‘yesterday’. Those in need of Impatiens can become very impatient and irritable with others who are naturally slower than they are, a state that often creates inner discomfort and tightness. They usually prefer to do things by themselves because it is; ‘quicker to do it myself’. The Impatiens personality does not wait for long for anything, even to the point of finishing others sentences and can easily flare up in anger if pushed, although this will normally be quickly over and forgotten. They are very independent minded and can become isolated and unable to connect with others in the extreme state.

Dr Bach’s Description of Impatiens

Dr Edward Bach portrait

"Those who are quick in thought and action and who wish all things to be done without hesitation or delay. When ill they are anxious for a hasty recovery. They find it very difficult to be patient with people who are slow, as they consider it wrong and a waste of time, and they will endeavour to make such people quicker in all ways. They often prefer to work and think alone, so that they can do everything at their own speed."

More Insights Into Impatiens

"Impatiens is the remedy for anyone who engages with life in a constant whirl of activity that has them rushing from one thing to the next"

“Choose Impatiens if you’re mentally rushing ahead of yourself all the time, thinking about everything you need to do or the next thing on your list when you haven’t even completed the first thing yet. There’s an inner state of pressure and urgency associated with this state that makes it difficult to slow down, relax, and taste the magic in each moment. Over time, this pattern can cause enormous amounts of stress to build up in your energetic system. Impatiens helps to draw your awareness back into the moment you’re in, so you feel more present and calm and able to focus on what you’re doing now instead of thinking ahead to what’s next.” Jackie Stewart - Crystal Herbs

“Impatiens is the remedy for anyone who engages with life in a constant whirl of activity that has them rushing from one thing to the next. In this state it can feel as though you are outside of yourself and being uncomfortably driven by thoughts of what has to be achieved next, even before you have finished the current task. Irritability, impatience with others and feelings of isolation are often indicators of the need for this essence. All of these things dissipate as the remedy assists you to come back into the awareness of the present moment.” Catherine Keattch - Crystal Herbs

"Impatiens relates to the Soul qualities of patience and gentleness. In the negative Impatiens state, you are impatient, with an inner tension that tends to cause irritability toward others. Because you move very quickly mentally, everybody else seems very slow. You often feel like a thoroughbred forced to pull a plow while harnessed with a farm horse. Frustrated inside, you nevertheless adapt to the work and slower pace of others. This adaptation, however, takes a great deal of energy, resulting in constant mental strain." The Encyclopedia of Bach Flower Therapy by Mechthild Scheffer

"Impatiens people lead with the head, they are up and out of the chair as soon as they have the idea to move. It is their nature to be unrelaxed, tense, always on the edge of their seat, always jumpy. Like a coiled snake, they are ready to strike. This sense of anticipation, of kinetic energy, is in the plant. There are few plants which can trigger physical responses in this way; most are passive. It is emblematic of the reactive nature of Impatiens people, who use their energy to act upon the outside world. They are not receptive and sensitive by nature. And yet the delicate and balanced quality which will ease the tension is there in the flowers as well." Bach Flower Remedies Form & Function by Julian Barnard

"This is the Remedy for those people who are quick in mind and action. It is for those who make instant decisions and like to work alone because the slowness of others might hinder them. They grasp any new idea or subject quickly, and they may sometimes finish a sentence if the speaker is slow; at times they might even snatch things out of another person's hands if he is not quick enough to suit them. They are active people and nervous; they move, eat and speak quickly. They are intelligent and intuitive, good and efficient in whatever they undertake. They tend to become impatient and sometimes irritable with those who are not as quick as they are, but their anger which flares up quickly, just as quickly subsides. When these people are ill, they never feel that they are recovering fast enough, and they become irritated and impatient with both the situation and those around them. The extreme mental tension often manifests itself as muscular tension and pain." Illustrated Handbook of the Bach Flower Remedies by Philip Chancellor
